About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.Requirements:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience Statement: Specialized experience is defined as work that involves: 1) the designing, operation, and/or maintenance of an organization's laboratory area, programs and/or equipment; 2) providing technical and/or mechanical engineering support for designing, building, fabricating and/or testing mechanical mechanisms or machines for instruction or research purposes using standard shop equipment; AND 3) leading and/or providing guidance to team members involved in the maintenance of electronic, civil, mechanical, or other related systems. This definition of specialized experience is equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
