Duty Location: Provo, Utah

This announcement is issued under the Direct-Hire authority to recruit for positions for which there is a critical hiring need.

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT for the 0810 series:
A. Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.
-OR-
B. Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering that included differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five (5) of the following seven (7) areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. C. Completed 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, and that included the courses specified in B above. These courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

D. Successfully completed a curriculum leading to a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field such as engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology AND have at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. This must include either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

E. Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Note: You must submit documentation of having passed the examination.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:

GS-11: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience, comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing work in water resource engineering, such as surface water, groundwater, hydrogeology, aquifer recharge, aquifer recovery, water supply, water demand, water infrastructure, storm water, irrigation systems, canal systems, agricultural water systems, municipal water systems, water hydraulics, or geographical information systems.

OR

Have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D., or I have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in engineering or a related field which provided the knowledge, skills and abilities for the position.

GS-12: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience, comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing work in 3 or more of the following: (1) construction management activities; (2) planning and investigation activities in water resource engineering, such as surface water, groundwater, hydrogeology, aquifer recharge, aquifer recovery, water supply, water demand, water infrastructure, storm water, irrigation systems, canal systems, agricultural water systems, municipal water systems, water hydraulics, or geographical information systems AND serving as an experienced engineer providing civil engineering mentorship and expertise for a variety of complex projects and activities related to water resource engineering.
