Requirements:

Screen-out Element: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision as indicated by performing tasks related to basic plumbing, basic maintenance, working around fuels, working around aircraft, fighting wildland fire, basic mechanics, or driving a forklift.

OPM Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations will be used in determining your qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that you possess the skill level that has equipped you with the particular job elements to successfully perform the duties of Fuel Distribution System Worker (MVO) without more than normal supervision.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Physical Demands: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require you to stand, bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh in excess of 100 lbs.

Work Environment: Work is accomplished indoors and out, day or night, in all weather conditions, in any location of the State. The work is dirty, dusty, and greasy; wet, hot, cold, or any combination of the above. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, working from ladders, or injury from material handling equipment. Will fly to remote areas of Alaska via various types of fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft in all types of weather.
