About the Position: Serves as Machinist Supervisor with Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) exercising direct supervisory responsibility over work operations involving as many as 24 subordinate workers.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 12 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Lead or Supervise. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. The work of a Machinist Supervisor includes leading or supervising machinists and machine tool operators in a manufacturing environment; developing work schedules, writing performance appraisals, conducting formal and/or cross training; reviewing employees completed work; completing production reports; and interpret and translate work orders from drawings and/or specifications. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability to plan and organize work Ability To Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Operation of Machine Tools PHYSICAL EFFORT: None. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed in a well lighted, heated, and ventilated area. However, the supervisor will be required to visit work sites, where the supervisor will be subject to extreme high temperature, noise, dirt, burns, cuts, bruises, and possible injuries. You will be required to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and hearing protection.
