Requirements:

To qualify for GS-14, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13.

Experience must be in the normal line of progression of the Explosives Enforcement Officer position under 6c law enforcement coverage and demonstrate proficiency in the use of firearms.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Examples of specialized experience include:

Conducts examinations and analysis of evidence related to explosives and incendiary devices, explosive weapons and ordinance, and application of findings to laws and regulations; and Testifies as an expert witness and provides opinions during court proceeding related to device determinations; and Maintains proficiency in explosives, render-safe procedures and post-blast investigations, as well as technical scientific advancements to provide up-to date information to develop, manage, and direct appropriate policy, program related studies, in task forces, ad working groups; and Conducts assessments, surveys, studies, and analyses, identifies problems; and justify, develop, and evaluate solutions to highly complex and sensitive issues; and Interprets and applies ATF's statutory responsibilities and related information of other Federal, State, and local jurisdictions; the regulated industries; and ATF's organization, missions, regulations, and policies; and Prepares and defends policy papers, makes presentations to management and professional groups, and coordination with liaison to representatives from other enforcement agencies and organizations.
