Description:

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Information Officer. The purpose of the position is to serve as an AI Technology Expert for AI/ML-enabled applications and solutions. In this role you will help DHS with leveraging recent technological advancements to harness the benefits of AI and significantly expand its responsible use to improve delivery of services and operational effectiveness.

Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Requirements:

Basic Requirements: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: 1. Applying advanced technical or policy knowledge in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning (AI/ML).
2. Delivering or integrating technology or products that use or apply AI/ML which may include neural networks, high performance computing (HPC), or other advance data science technologies, frameworks, models, systems, human-machine interfaces, or applications in an organization
3. Making decisions or providing recommendations that influence policies, projects, or programs, and securing leadership buy in and/or stakeholder consensus.
4. Defining effective objectives and product goals and formulating/tracking measures of success.
5. Leading cross functional teams, which may include designers, product managers, data scientists, or software engineers, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to meet program or project goals, objectives, and priorities.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
