Description:

This position serves as a Registered Nurse working in the Operating Department within the Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, OK. The position reports to the assigned Supervisory Nurse. The hospital offers full services, including general medicine and surgery, pediatrics, and outpatient services.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

** This position has a positive education requirement, therefore, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts (official/unofficial), OR list your education history including the type of degree(s) and major of study, and completion or anticipated completion (month and year) on your resume. A list of courses including titles, credit hours completed, and grades is needed for Superior Academic Achievement (SAA)*. Degree and License Waiting Period for Impending Graduates:
The Hiring Manager/Selecting Official may elect to utilize an available flexibility wherein applicants who are currently enrolled and expected to complete the required education and obtain the required licensure within 9 months of applying, may be deemed tentatively qualified. The eligibility date is established based on the date of application and not the closing date of the announcement or any cut-off date used for certificates of eligible candidates.

Applicants who have not completed their education requirements (but who are within the established timeframe for qualifying) must submit:
1. Documentation from the educational institution's registrar, dean or other appropriate official that attests to the applicable timeframe
for completion of the professional program/coursework, AND
2. A copy of the most recent unofficial transcript

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

AND

License: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:

GS-5:
Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with no experience;
OR
Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing AND one full year of professional nursing experience. This experience includes: implementing a plan of care for assigned patients; providing nursing interventions based on developed plan of care; and evaluating the effectiveness of the plan of care.

GS-7:
Possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing AND have eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) provision**;
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing AND at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-5 grade level.) Examples of experience include: developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for assigned patients, assisting medical providers with procedures; setting up a sterile field; providing patient discharge instructions; monitoring vital signs and body system devices such as a cardiac monitor or pulse oximeter for sudden changes in conditions;
OR
Possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing AND two full years of professional nursing experience. Examples of experience include: developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for assigned patients, assisting medical providers with procedures; setting up a sterile field; providing patient discharge instructions; monitoring vital signs and body system devices such as a cardiac monitor or pulse oximeter for sudden changes in conditions;
OR
Completion of at least one full year of graduate education in a professional nursing educational program.

GS-9:
Possession of a master's degree in professional nursing;
OR
One full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Examples of experience include: developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for assigned patients within the peri-operative and post-operative phases of surgery; initiating emergency care in acute life threatening situations such as cardiac and respiratory failure management; providing patient and family education on surgical diagnosis and care.

GS-10: Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field;
OR
One (1) full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level) AND possess a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Examples of experience include: developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for assigned patients within the perioperative, operative and post-anesthesia areas; circulating and scrubbing for various surgeries; maintaining the aseptic and sterile field; following all special safety standards and precautions in the operating room; operating, monitoring and interpreting results for not only general nursing equipment but also specialized equipment found in the peri-operative environment such as C-arm, warming and cooling units, sterilization equipment, video equipment and EKG machines.

**If claiming eligibility for Superior Academic Achievement, candidates must provide copies of transcripts at the time of initial application. If unable to obtain transcripts, candidates must provide sufficient evidence to validate courses completed and credit hours earned. Eligibility is based on one of the following:
Class standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision and based on completed courses. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a G.P.A. of: a.) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (''B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or b.) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society - Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed here Association of College Honor Societies. Official transcripts may be required after tentative selection and prior to issuing an official job offer.
