THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Surface Maintenance Repairer, Position Description Number D1193000 and is part of the MATES, National Guard.

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 - E7/SFC) or currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 - E7/SFC) or regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 - E7/SFC)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to read and interpret instructions, repair manual, specifications and drawings, as well as experience which provided you with a working knowledge of shop mathematics sufficient to use testing devices and measuring instruments; and proficiency in the use and maintenance of hand tools and equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
Experience in making routine repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components. Experience in performing limited diagnoses to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment. Experience in conducting limited readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Experience in performing Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc.
