Description:
Serves as an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (Communication SS) at the DFW Communications System Support Center (SSC). The Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS) at this level is recognized as the subject matter expert for the Interim Voice Switch Replacement (IVSR).

Specialized Experience: Applicants must provide a resume which demonstrates and/or show that you possess the specialized work experience in your work history. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate an extensive knowledge of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automation aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Applicants must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Generally, experience at the next lower level (pay band H/Career Level III or equivalent), meets the minimum qualification requirements as long as your experience supports the "Demonstrated Abilities" identified within the "Application Questionnaire" section.
Communications: ATSS must possess expert knowledge, skill or ability to perform the operation associated with the installation, maintenance, modification, repair, troubleshooting, and certification of the Interim Voice Switch Replacement (IVSR).

Responsibilities Continued:
Provides appropriate systems and service certification as required by agency policy and guidelines. Decisions and recommendations involve major segments of the NAS which extend beyond District boundaries. Initiates action for the timely repair or restoration of services and systems, taking into account the availability of backup systems, possible reconfigurations to minimize service interruptions, and relative criticality of particular functions to the safe and efficient operations of services and systems throughout the area of geographic responsibility of the position.
Integrates Operational Risk Management (ORM) into all planned activities ensuring that all customers and users of services are included and involved in implementation and planning.
Fully understands and utilizes proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and personal safety practices when engaged in all restoration and maintenance activities helping to set the example of safe work practices for others in the organization. Receives general program assignments from a supervisor or higher-level manager. Assignments are stated in terms of priorities, overall objectives, and boundaries. Completed assignments are considered technically authoritative and are reviewed only for general compliance with organizational objectives. Identifies resources needed to perform assignments. Organizes and assigns resources needed to accomplish large work activities within established schedules. Work is reviewed for compliance with established policies and sound technical and programmatic judgment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
