The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the CHR Corporate Human Resources division.

As the Sr. Manager of Compensation & Benefits, the incumbent will provide compensation subject matter expertise for one of Abbott’s key operating divisions.

What You’ll Work On

  • Consult with Business HR (BHR), Area/local Compensation & Benefits colleagues, Practice Centers, and Global HR Services to provide guidance on compensation philosophy, policies and best practices. Develop and deliver compensation training to BHR, TA and other HR areas.
  • Lead internal/external data analysis, interpret findings, develop and present proposals/recommendations to senior leadership, Practice Centers, BHR.
  • Provide project management and oversight for assigned annual compensation programs. Develop and manage project plans and timetables in collaboration with Business HR, Practice Centers, Area Directors and the Service Center. Identify and agree on service levels, delivery standards and project deliverables/metrics.
  • Lead compensation program design, communication, and implementation and provide design expertise in various program areas.
  • Provide direction and guidance to Compensation Specialists/Analysts within Practice Center (nonsupervisory).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or relevant field
  • 8+ years compensation analytical/consulting experience
  • 10+ years overall HR including project/program management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities and project timelines, anticipate needs and determine next steps.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work through teams and interact at all organizational levels including key stakeholders and senior management.
  • In-depth knowledge of rewards theory, trends, best practices, laws/regulations.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational and time management, problem-solving, influencing, communication, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or MBA) in HR, Project Management, or relevant field
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation
  • External compensation consulting experience
  • Experience designing compensation plans and market pricing/benchmarking
  • Experience with large, global organization

The base pay for this position is $125,300.00 – $250,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
