Position Summary

In the Mechanical Designer Technician position, you will assist in the product development process including the creation of part and assembly drawings, creation of manufacturing documentation, processing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and 3D model development. This position will be responsible for mechanical 2D and 3D technical documentation and manufacturing documentation related to product development within the Lighting & Connectivity Department and beyond.

This position reports to an Engineering Manager.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Contributing to the design, creation, and modification of components and sub-assemblies
  • Collaborating with Purchasing, Engineering, and Factory Teams to launch new product
  • Building prototypes and troubleshoot design issues in collaboration with Mechanical Engineers
  • Contributing to document and procedure development as needed working within an Engineering Department comprised of a cross-disciplinary staff of engineers

  • Updates models, drawings, and documentation for product components and assemblies through engineering change orders.
  • Supporting product designs from conception through design, sourcing, production, and revision
  • Creating assemblies and drawings using existing models for our website

  • Initiating and finalizing workflow processes to promote new or modified part models into the document management system
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design or related field
  • 4 Years of Experience working in Mechanical Drafting/Design or related field
  • Advanced capabilities using Creo design software
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Preferred

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as: injection molding, die casting, machining, and stamping
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD design software
  • Knowledge of Windchill PDM system
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator

  • Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
