Description:

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated Excepted Service vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Interested applicants must follow the directions in the "How to Apply" section of this flyer to be considered. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer.

Requirements:

Your application must show that you meet the following:
1.) You are a member in good standing of the bar of a State of the United States or a Territory of the United States or sufficient proof that the same has been requested with the appropriate licensing authority.
2) You have a Juris Doctorate degree, or higher level law degree, from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
3) You possess at least one year of post-law-school experience performing the interpretation, analysis and application of general maritime law and relevant federal statutes, directives, regulations, and procedures related to the adjudication of admiralty claims and the provision of maritime law advice.
4) You must provide a writing sample of two pages or less. The writing sample may be an excerpt of a longer document but shall not exceed two pages in actual length.

Upon selection the following documents will be requested:
A Certificate or Letter of Good Standing with the Bar of the highest court of a State of the United States or a Territory of the United States that was issued within the past 3 months
An official transcript of your law school record together with an official statement of your relative standing in your class. However, if you have been a member of the Bar for 5 years or more, the transcript requirement may be waived.
An official statement that your fitness to practice law or your conduct as an attorney have never been challenged. If either your fitness or conduct has been challenged, an official statement concerning the facts and circumstances together with any explanation that you may wish to submit.
