The Ideal Candidate for the Director of Equal Employment Opportunity (Supervisory Attorney Advisor) is an expert in equal opportunity laws, regulations, policies, and methods which includes the Equal Pay Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, No Fear Act, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) regulations and guidance for federal agencies. The candidate also demonstrates the capacity to lead and manage an effective EEO program. The Ideal Candidate is detail and task-orientated and a problem-solver who leads people and builds teams to accomplish the Agency's EEO goals.
BASIC REQUIREMENT
An applicant must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.).
BAR MEMBERSHIP AND CERTIFICATION
Applicants must be an active member of the Bar in good standing of any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or any Territorial court under the US constitution. Your active BAR license must reference BAR number and indicate the status of good standing. The Agency's Internal or Self-Certification Form is not acceptable for verification.
In addition to the BASIC REQUIREMENT, applicants must also meet the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the GS-15, Director of Equal Employment Opportunity (Supervisory Attorney Advisor), and that is typically related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience includes: Experience providing legal advice and supervision over legal matters pertaining to an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program, its policy, procedures and implementation of the foregoing laws, rules and regulations; Experience recommending and securing changes in programs and procedures designed to eliminate discriminatory practices and to improve Agency-wide EEO programs; and Experience developing and implementing plans and mechanisms for evaluating the effectiveness of an organization's EEO program in relation to goals and objectives established by the organization. This experience must be fully supported and articulated in your resume to receive consideration.
NOTE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
