THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION

DUTY LOCATION: Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Windsor Locks, CT

AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:

Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Area 2: All currently employed full-time Temporary Technician personnel (Tenure 0) and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.

Requirements:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 6, 12 or 18 months of specialized experience in the following:

WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS:
Experience using common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision. Experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. WG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS: Experience using common hand tools to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components, e.g. such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems. WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS: Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Experience demonstrating the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to do diversified work with tools and equipment, requiring extreme caution in maintaining close dimensions. Knowledge of aircraft components and maintenance procedures. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and determine remedy where overall knowledge of all systems of aircraft is required. Ability to inspect aircraft, determine mechanical deficiencies and analyze results. Ability to interpret instructional material, schematics and specifications for complex mechanical problems on assigned aircraft.
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.

MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Application): Enlisted: E-1 through E-8
UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any aviation unit within state

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course attendance.

STATEMENT OF DIFFERENCE: Individual selected at a lower level will be issued a Statement of Difference. Predicated upon qualifications, individual could be hired at the WG-10 grade. An individual selected for this position at the lower grade will progressively be advanced to WG-10 upon achievement of required qualifications without further competition.
