This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.About the Position: Perform a variety of duties in connection with toxic agent monitoring, assessment, and operation of equipment to handle and detoxify chemical and biological agents and agent related components in austere conditions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience at the GS-07 Level is defined as: (1) assisting with packaging chemical materials in accordance with established guidelines; AND (2) recording collected data gathered by handheld chemical agent detectors; AND (3) checking the functionality of systems to include air supplying systems, pumps or water dispersal systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service GS-06.
Specialized Experience at the GS-08 Level is defined as: (1) communicating with senior officials on the laboratory setup to safely conduct chemical and biological operations; AND (2) identifying potential hazards of chemical agents to report to senior officials; AND (3) resolving problems in work assignment in accordance with relevant guidelines and protocols related to a laboratory setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service GS-07.
Specialized Experience at the GS-09 Level is defined as: (1) Assisting with the maintenance of chemical equipment to ensure equipment is operational; AND (2) Assisting in packaging of chemicals and munitions in accordance with Federal regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service GS-08.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent.
