Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience GS 05:
- Gather information, data, reports and statistics from various sources.
- Develop charts, spreadsheets, graphs, and other presentation materials.

- Maintain daily activities and actions of marketing / sales.
- Gather administrative and technical assignments in support of sales. Examples of qualifying specialized experience GS 07:
- Compiling information into interim and final reports.

Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: - Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA. - Current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since their latest nontemporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate, known as time after competitive appointment. Current and former federal civilian employees, including those of the employing agency, are encouraged to include a copy of their most recent rating of record.
