You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the federal service planning, managing, and developing an organization's emergency management and continuity of operations programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Travel to other FLETC sites may be required approximately 20% of the time. Driving a vehicle may be required. Trips to other elements within the organization are routine and trips to other government agencies or contractor sites may berequired. Intense concentration and performance of duties at maximum capability are required to meet deadlines. No special or out-of-the-ordinary physical effort is required unless during a real emergency or natural disaster. In such cases, long hard hours may be expected.
Work Environment: Work is normally performed in an office setting where no unusual safety precautions are required. However, during emergencies and natural disasters, working conditions may be austere. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, cooled, and ventilated. Position does spend time in private or on public transportation.
